Alvin J. Coleman & Son, Inc. has
been involved in heavy earth
construction on every scale imaginable.
Jobs have ranged from residential water
systems to large commercial box store
site development as well as NH D.O.T.
projects that have included bridge
repair and replacement and highway
upgrades.
Recent projects include:
Augusta Crossing Retail Shopping Center
in Augusta, ME. This 40 acre project
included a 40’ retaining wall and the
moving of hundreds of thousands of cubic
yards of ledge
and gravel. This project was owned by
Packard Development out of Newton, MA.
Sagamore Ridge Retail Re-development in
Nashua, NH. This 15 acre project
included removing existing buildings and
the installation of a 60’ retaining
wall. This project was also owned by
Packard Development of Newton, MA.
The Mount Carberry Landfill Closure in
Berlin, NH. This project has been on
going for several years, occasionally
with multiple phases being worked on
concurrently. We have
successfully bid and completed work on
various stages of the closure including
closing several cells and a gas
extraction phase. This project is owned
by the Androscoggin Valley Regional
Refuse Disposal District in Berlin, NH.
Route 112, Kancamaugus Highway
Improvements between Lincoln and Conway,
NH. This was actually three projects
that all together encompassed
approximately eight miles of scenic
highway through one of New Hampshire’s
most beautiful notches. Extreme caution
was taken to respect the environment in
this White Mountain National Forest
area. The existing road was widened to
increase visibility of other vehicles as
well as to give drivers more
opportunities to react to wildlife in
the roads thus helping to reduce
collisions. This project was owned by
the New Hampshire Department of
Transportation.
North-South Road, North Conway, NH.
This project was completed in an
efficient and professional manner. The
entire community of Conway and North
Conway, NH as well as surrounding towns
were thrilled with the outcome as the
opening of this road eased a significant
amount of traffic pressure from the main
artery of the Town of Conway. This
project was owned by the State of New
Hampshire D.O.T. and was one of the
preliminary steps that needed to be
satisfied while the State considers a
bypass around the entire Conway area.
Surry and Hinsdale, NH. In the spring
of 2005, New Hampshire was devastated by
heavy melt water and unusually strong
spring rains. Southern parts of the
state were particularly hard hit. We
were on a short list of contractors to
be mobilized in case of such an
emergency. AJC was called in to help
make emergency repairs in the affected
communities.
